Virgin Seeks Bad Ass

I think this gets a nod for worst title evah... and yes I do sometimes wonder about the things I read...
click click click
Virgin Seeks Bad-Ass Boy
Alice Sutherland is tired of being a virgin. At twenty-four, she wants to experience wild and passionate sex. And she wants a real bad boy between her legs, preferably one with a heart deep down.

Caleb Sawyer doesn't know how to react when his sexy neighbor confesses that she wants him to de-virgin her. He's shocked. He's also intrigued. But he's not sure Ali has any idea what sex with him entails. Caleb is used to no-holds-barred, dirty, sweaty, try anything sex.

Alice is not naive, just inexperienced. What Caleb doesn't know is that she has seen him in action... and he's her man. Oh, is he ever. The answer to all her needs, her deepest desires, her darkest fantasies. What starts as one weekend of raw passion, soon surpasses anything that either of them ever expected.

Oh she may not be naive but boy oh boy does she have crappy dialogue. LOOK and his is just as bad... I think this is proof that some 'free' stories should stay free and not be pulled and 'expanded' to be sold. I would pass and try something else of Ruth D. Kerce or go check out her site for the still free stories. Quick before they are sold!

Elizabeth Lowell

Yes again *g*. Her website has been redesigned if you wanna go take a looksie. I think it looks good, except that part where the upcoming section doesn't have any new westerns :(.

more free... Joy Nash

Well Joy Nash isn't free, er that is she has a couple of stories that are.

Would you like to know more?
Dorchester has my heart since they keep publishing historical western novels even though people keep saying it is teh dead and not too. But really they do some nifty ass things for their readers, or at least their writers do.

Find out what has happened in the years between Celtic Fire and The Grail King in three free "between the books" short stories by Joy Nash! Click on the link below to read the first story. The second will be added in June, so make sure to check back and follow Owein's adventures.

The first story is up! Warrior

Jorrie's Ebuzz: The Fifth Favor by Shelby Reed

Shelby Reed is an author you will see rec'ed again and again when people ask for good ebooks. And The Fifth Favor is a fave.

Summary bes here
Imagine a world where a woman's every pleasure, every wish and wildest fantasy is granted by the man of her dreams. Such is Avalon, an elite, private club in Washington, D.C., that caters solely to female desires. There, magazine reporter Billie Cort meets Adrian, the club's most infamous companion, with the intent to interview him for an article on high-dollar male escorts. Billie can't foresee, however, how quickly Adrian will strip her defenses and expose her true desires... and in the process, fulfill his own yearning for love.

Our Guest buzzer, Jorrie can be found on her blog and is about to join the 'e'author world with her Samhain novel, Haven.

Jorrie's Buzz
I really wrestled with this book. Why? It's well-written, the characterization ranges from solid to riveting, but the premise was a bit of a hard sell for me. (The premise is also, perhaps not coincidentally, one that fascinates me.) Also, I actively disliked a couple of plot developments-but I don't want to spoil the book and, to give Reed credit, she handles them well.

So, Adrian is a high-priced male escort. Not in any way a fake prostitute. He's twenty-eight, beautiful, and makes very good money at his job. We become acquainted with him gradually which works well because he's tortured and complicated.

Billie is a reporter. She doesn't seem particularly well-suited to her job, or to interviewing Adrian, but she does both. They are attracted to each other and thus their relationship begins.

Reed builds that relationship slowly but surely. Her pacing is excellent; the book barely falters. (Okay, you can tell I'm not a hardcore erotic romance reader when at one point, after Reed has totally captivated me with the story, I think, oh no, not a sex scene _now_! But I am a repressed fuddy-duddy-oops wrong post.)

Anyway, there _is_ a fair amount of sex but I certainly can't level the charge of plotless series of sex scenes. This is an intense, dark, emotional read that got right under my skin. Storytelling is at its core.

I found the heroine a weak link. I couldn't quite see why Adrian liked her-apart from the fact that she was there, which admittedly counts for something, but not enough. Reed's portrayal of Adrian is strong and fascinating and carries the book. I have to admit I'm on the fence in believing the HEA. But I know Adrian is in a better
place and that makes me happy.

Highly recommended. I will be reading more Shelby Reed. I love to react this strongly to a book.

Thanks for the buzz, Jorrie! The Fifth Favor's excerpt can be found here and you can buy it here. Enjoy!

Oh no I heard them bad boys coming

I have been really looking forward to getting Bad Boys Ahoy!, which got me thinking on the whole Bad Boy thang. I know I have talked a little about Brava and their Bad Boys, you can find many of their authors at the Brava Authors home page. But I did a lil digging around, which one thing led to another led to another - and poof we have a link happy post.

From what I can tell, these aren't guidelines for the books about BAD BOYS but it seems more of a 'brand name'. You can submit any type of book, but it has to be very sensual. So the hero doesn't have to fit a role of a bad man. I am thinking 'wicked women' is the same thing, but that is a different post ;).

I think I have all of the books that are out here, along with the ones coming out this year that I found info on. Feel free to jump in if you know of any others. Or if you have submitted a BB book to brava, tell us about it. Is her a hero a bad man? This is a very link happy post, so let me know if something doesn't go where it should, hee if anyone is interested in this besides me :).

It looks like I only did one combo review but am going to do more! I might keep mixing and matching... I am not sure. Unless it is an ARC than I will review the whole book at once.

LibraryThing

LibraryThing powers the nifty book thingie on my sidebar. It will let you do up to 200 books for free, which is nice. The cost isn't bad at all - you can get an account for the year for 10 bucks or a life time account for 25.

still quacking
Since that is the cost of a book or five... those of you that have it, is it worth it? I don't 'do' anything with mine yet. Other than clicky that I have it so it shows up on the sidebar. I see tags, I could do like due dates for reviews and such I think, which would rawk. What else do you do with it?

Maureen McKade

Maureen Mckade will be joining us as a guest author in September. Everyone sqqqquuueeee for a new western!

I will be posting a list of guests and will have links on the left side bar with info. Just trying to get the blog fixed in case I have to change it.

test post

Nalini Singh is an author I have just started to read. The delightful Jmcarr sent me, Secrets in the Marriage Bed, and I recently picked up Awaken to Pleasure and Craving Beauty.

And now this is mine, mine, mine! ssssssqqqeeeeeee

Just thought I would share :)

Looks like she is going to join the ever growing paranormal market with her next book. The blurb on her website sez:
A paranormal set in the not so distant future about a woman born into a race without emotions and her encounter with a group of sensual, passionate changelings.)

And she has the back cover copy
From her blog:
In a world that denies emotions, where the ruling Psy punish any sign of desire, Sascha Duncan must conceal the feelings that brand her as flawed. To reveal them would be to sentence herself to the horror of "rehabilitation" - the complete psychic erasure of everything she ever was....

Both human and animal, Lucas Hunter is a Changeling, hungry for the very sensations the Psy disdain. After centuries of uneasy co-existence, these two powerful races are now on the verge of war over the brutal murders of several Changeling women. Lucas is determined to find the Psy killer who butchered his packmate, and Sascha is his ticket into their closely guarded society. But he soon discovers that this ice-cold Psy is very capable of passion - and that the animal in him is fascinated by her. Caught between their conflicting worlds, Lucas and Sascha must remain bound to their identities-or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation...
Book comes out in November [moved to] SEPTEMBER from Berkley. Sounds interesting...

test...

Diana Palmer's next book (hardcover) is Outsider and will be out in July.

It is Cobly Lane's book. When was the last time she put out a new book not related to the Long Tall Texas gang somehow?

Outsider summary
Meet Colby Lane, the Long, Tall Texan Diana Palmer's fans have been clamoring for -- a man who is larger than life, and twice as exciting. The New York Times bestselling author delivers to readers a thrilling new story set against the rugged, ever-changing south Texas landscape.

Former black ops CIA operative Colby Lane, now retired from his wild years as a mercenary, has found his new calling as assistant chief of security for the mammoth Ritter Oil Corporation. All he wants is a new start. What he discovers, though, is that the past is never far behind. Colby is soon enmeshed in plans to trap a notorious drug trafficker, and it seems that his ex-wife, Sarina Carrington -- whom he so cruelly left after one day of marriage -- may be more involved than she's letting on. Not only that, but Sarina has a six-year-old dark-eyed daughter whose father is mysteriously absent -- or is he?

And Heartbreaker, her next Desire that comes out in Sept...

HEARTBREAKER features a hard-hearted bachelor in Jacobsville, Texas, and the young woman who hopes to bring him to his knees-not to mention the altar. But it looks like a long fight, and not without venom on both sides.

yes, yes feel free to begin making fun of me *g*
